Please Don't Go

While I was at work today something was burdening my heart and grieving my spirit. It was the issue of Hell! The Bible describes Hell as REAL and that it will be a literal place of: torment, everlasting punishment, everlasting fire, outer darkness, and worst of all separation from a holy God “these shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His power” 2 Thess 1:9. When are we going to grow up, or take this issue seriously as Christians? When are we going speak to others about this terrible place that is reserved for Satan and his followers?
I say all this because at work today I found out that a co-worker had lost her daughter at the precious age of sixteen as a result of an accident the girl had with her horse. What’s even worse, from my understanding of her life, she was not a Christian. This was a young lady who was not saved by His gift of grace, which means this beautiful young girl who was full of life is now spending an eternity in the place I just described. Does that grieve you as it did me today? Does this literal place called Hell affect how you will face tomorrow in a world full of people who are only one foot away, one breath away, from the place that burns with fire and brimstone?
People - especially the doubters and the emerging churches - this place is very real. I would have to say this young girl (if she was not saved) right now feels that hell is a very real place to her. We as a Church don’t like to talk about these ‘uncomfortable’ things that the Bible explains because it’s not comforting to hear, or it might offend someone. Hell IS offensive and very real and yet all we want to do is encourage people and build them up in their self-righteousness. We only give one half of the story instead of proclaiming the whole counsel of God. If you are a person who does not tell people about this place of torment, you should be ashamed of yourself. All you are doing is loving them to Hell instead of loving them by showing them the Savior. Jesus Christ is the only person who can keep them from the place that has wailing and gnashing of teeth. “And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather fear Him who can destroy both soul and body in hell” Matt 10:28.
The Bible says to “speak the truth in love” Eph 4:15. So my question is, why are we not obeying that command that Paul gave the believers in Ephesus? We must tell, proclaim, and scream from our rooftops, begging them not to go, pleading with them to listen, telling them that salvation is here and it’s available now to all who repent and put their trust in the Savior Jesus Christ, because life is but a vapour as James put it. Our hearts should grieve every time an unsaved person passes away into eternity, because if they are not saved and in the presence of His sovereign glory, then they are forever alone in the Lake of Fire that is burning for all eternity.
My heart is pleading with you; I love you too much NOT to tell you about a real place called Hell. The Bible says the Lord desires, wills, that none perish. That should be our heart cry as well - please don’t go there, come to the foot of the cross were you will find Jesus Christ the only One who can keep you from going to that awful place. “looking to Jesus, the Founder and Perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God” Heb 12:2. Please do it today – repent, turn from your wickedness, be forgiven, live your life for the glory of God - your soul depends on it.
