  Romans 7:7-25 Holy law exposes the evil of sin and it  points us to Christ.  God uses a holy thing (Law) to reveal an evil thing (sin) so that a necessary thing (death) might result in the most important thing (life) .  Chapter 6 defends the grace of God and chapter 7 defends the law of God in the life of the church and the Christian life.  God has a standard of righteousness by which He measures character.  This standard is God’s holy law , which is given to us as a rule of life.  We are called upon to comply  with its requirements out of love towards the Godhead.  When we do this! We honor the Godhead; for God gave the law, and Christ died to magnify it, and made it honorabe in a new way through the Spirit to love Him .   Jesus said “As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you .   Romans 7:1-6   We have been crucified with Christ as Paul explained in the previous chapter which produces a freedom we never had previously.  Previously, we were slaves to sin and death, and slaves to our master the devil.  We know this was true because the Law held us captive because we broke God’s law and we were bound by the law in judgement and death.  But the gospel delivered us from this bondage…. though the Law is perfect, because it’s God’s law for His creation.  Understand! The Law is His statues, commandments, ordinances and testimonies .  In Deut 6:1-9 we read this revealed truth about God’s Law. “…Hear therefore, O Israel, and be careful to do them, that it may go well with you, and that you may multiply greatly, as the LORD, the God of your fathers, has promised you, in a land flowing with milk and honey.
