The Supemacy Of Christ In A Biblical Foundation (Part 2)

Image
Col 2:8-10 Everywhere you look you see hundreds of warning signs and labels all over the place from your home to the workplace even in the grocery store. For example: Soon as you seat down in your vehicle you have in your face this yellow caution sticks with big black lettering above your head saying “children can be killed or seriously injured by the air bag.” You open the gas lid and it tells you what type of fuel to put into your car or truck. You pop the hood on your vehicle and you see warning signs all over the place......from what type of oil to what type of anti-freeze you should be using in your vehicle. If you thought that wasn't enough! When you’re driving you're faced with all these warning signs as well.....I can remember when we're on vacation this summer being on some back roads in the mountains seeing signs in the middle of what seemed to be nowhere warning us and fellow drivers about the conditions ahead. Signs about.....falling rock, avalanche area, bea...

The Supremacy Of Christ In A Biblical Foundation (Part 1)

Col 2:1-10 What are some of the greatest qualities of the pastor or better yet the church? Is it....... • Sound doctrine • Leadership • A firm boldness for the Gospel • A desire to walk in Holiness • Sunday school for all ages • The worship team • The pastor’s ability to speak clearly All these things mentioned above are very important [vital] elements to a good pastor and a solid biblical church. But as John MacArthur says “perhaps the most necessary ingredient in the life of the any minister of Jesus Christ is love for the church. No one can truly serve God in the church without that motivation.” The greatest quality for the church and mostly for pastors comes down to this one question! Do I love my church? And you can ask yourself that question right now! • It’s not a case of...... I like this church. • It’s not a case of...... I like coming here on occasion. • It’s not a case of...... there is really nowhere else to go. The question is...... Do I truly love this ...

The Supremacy Of Christ In Serving The Body

Image
Col 1:24-29 A promising artist once painted a picture of the Last Supper. He took it to the writer Tolstoy for his opinion. Carefully and understandingly the Russian master of words studied the canvas. Then pointing to the central Figure, he declared “you do not love Him.” .......“Why that is the Lord Jesus Christ,” explained the artist! ”I know,” insisted Tolstoy, “but you don’t love Him. If you loved Him more, you would paint Him better. That can also be said about our serving not just here in our church but in our homes and communities! A lot can be said about the way we serve one another by the picture we paint of Christ in our life! Are we [Christians, the Church] making much of Him? Are we just going through the motions of doing as little as possible because that’s why we hire a pastor? Seriously think about that! A Christian’s life or service is never done until God says so! What does the word servant mean! Servant means....... one that serves others [a public serv...

The Supremacy Of Christ In Reconcilation

Image
Col 1:20-23 What comes to mind when you think of the word reconcile? • To make amends • To bring back • To seek forgiveness • To give forgiveness When I think of this word the first thing that comes to mind is.... • The Gospel of Jesus Christ • God’s sacrificial love for fallen sinners like you and me • Salvation and restoration • Fellowship with the One that created us for His glory Reconcile is one of the most important and descriptive words found throughout the whole Bible. You read this time and time again throughout the Old Testament. Right from the very beginning with Adam and Eve in the garden. It says in Gen 3:15 “I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and her offspring; he shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise his heel." Even in account of Abraham, when he took his only son to sacrifice him because God told him too.......remember what he said to his son? "God will provide for himself the lamb for a burnt offe...

The Supremacy Of Christ From The Very Beginning

Image
Col 1:15-20 Christ is before everything! Christ is behind everything! The Bible is all about the supremacy of Christ • The Old Testament records the preparation of His coming • The Gospels present Him as God in human flesh coming into the world to save wretched sinners. • The Book of Acts the message of salvation through Christ begins to spread throughout the land • The Epistles give us understanding to the theology of Christ’s work and representation of Christ in His body, and in the church. • The Book of Revelation presents Christ on the throne, reigning as King of kings and Lord of lords When you pick up the bible it screams Christ! He is the reason we are allowed see and breath another day. He is our redeeming mercy and hope. He is our Lord who is seated at the right hand of the Father. The bible is supremely the book about the Lord Jesus Christ, as Isa 9:6 says “For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name ...

The Supremacy Of Christ Found In The Gospel

Image
Col 1:1-14 What does it mean when we use the word supreme? By definition supreme means....highest in authority; holding the highest place in government or power. In the United States, the congress is supreme in regulating commerce and in making war and peace. In our country of Canada we have our House of Parliament who governs over us. The parliament of Great Britain is supreme in legislation; but the king is supreme in the administration of the government. In the universe, God only is the supreme ruler and judge. His commands are supreme, and binding on all his creatures. But what if you add [A. C. Y. and removed the E] to the end of that word supreme........We would get supremacy! See supremacy gives a deep understanding to what it means to be supreme! It’s a state of being supreme or in the highest station of power; highest authority or power! So if God is creator and self existent of everything.....wouldn’t that make Him supreme over everything? And I mean everything! 1 Chron 2...
