Which One are You?
MODERNISM - The belief that we can understand everything in our world through our own senses and experiences. Anything that cannot be seen and experienced, such as spiritual truth, is viewed as relative (different for
each person).
POSTMODERNISM - The belief that truth is created rather than discovered. Any truth in science, education or religion, is created by the people in that particular culture for that specific time. Any statement that tries to communicate truth as objective is seen as trying to dominate that culture.
NEW TOLERANCE - Every person’s beliefs and perception of what is truth are equal in value. There is no absolute truth which applies for everyone at all times.
BORN AGAIN CHRISTIAN - "... the Just shall walk by faith" Gal 3:11. "because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved. For the Scripture says, "Everyone who believes in him will not be put to shame."For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; the same Lord is Lord of all, bestowing his riches on all who call on him. For "everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved." Rom 10:9-13
Which one are you this morning?
What does it take for a person to believe? better yet what would it take for a person to believe in something that they cannot see? The answer is: It requires a blind faith! The Bible says "But without faith it is impossible to please Him" (Heb 11:6). The postmodern world today only believes what it wants to believe for themselves. In order for society to believe in anything they first ask:
Can See it
Can I Touch it
Can I Smell it
Can I Rationalize it
Can I benefit from it
If I cannot do any of these things then it must not be true! Its not worth pursuing, because its not real to me. Listen to what King Jesus said in His sermon on the mount:
Many will be boasters of self
Many will become religious
Many will be hypocrites
Many will take the broad road
Many will desire to be rich
Many will build their own foundation
See we have to understand faith is not all about what you can; Fell, See, Touch or Become. Again The Bible says faith is "..... The substance (realization) of things hoped for, the evidence (confidence) 0f the things not seen" (Heb 11:1). See Faith is everything for the believer. Its a faith that we:
1. Will live by (Gal 2:20) "Christ lives in me"
2. Will stand by (Rom 11:20) "you stand by faith"
3.Will walk by (Rom 4:12) "walk in the steps of faith"
4. Overcome the world by (1John 5:4-5) "born of God overcomes the world"
5. Delivered from power of sin by (1 Pet 1:9) "receiving the end of your faith, the salvation of your souls"
6. Should have full assurance of (Heb 10:22) "a true heart in full assurance of faith"
I'm always reminded by what Jesus said to Thomas the doubter. Jesus said "Thomas, because you have seen Me, you have believed. Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed." (John 20:29) That's you and me if you are a Christian. We believe by that faith even though we have not seen the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. We believe the Bible and what it tells us about our God the Creator of the whole world. We must walk by faith and not by sight because that's what the Bible requires from us "FAITH" "For the just shall live by his faith" (Hab 2:4). If we do not have that kind of faith then we are no different then the blind pharisees and the nation Israel who were lost and without Christ, 1Cor 1:21-23 For since, in the wisdom of God, the world through wisdom did not know God, it pleased God through the foolishness of the message preached to save those who believe. For Jews request a sign, and Greeks seek after wisdom; but we preach Christ crucified, to the Jews a stumbling block and to the Greeks foolishness, They were blinded by their own pride and ignorance because they did not believe the testimony of who Jesus claimed to be God in the flesh. A unbelieving heart leads to bad choices and ultimately ends in destruction. A true believing heart leads to eternal life.
Do you have that blind faith to believe what the Lord Jesus Christ said He was going to do? He said " I go and prepare a place for you" (John 14:2) He said "I will come again and receive you to Myself" (John 14:3) He said "I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more" (Heb 8:12) He said " I will be a Father to you, And you shall by My sons and daughters, Says the LORD Almighty" (2 Cor 6:18)
Do you believe that this morning?
Do you have the faith of those who did not see and yet still believed? Jesus said if we had a faith the size of a mustard seed, we could tell a mountain to move and it would move.
Do you have a working faith this morning?
We believe as Christians because of what the Bible says, our faith comes by HEARING! The word of our LORD who speaks and testifies to us His wonderful truth and promises to those who love HIM AND WALK BY FAITH
We were not their to witness Him
We were not their to see Him die for all humanity
We were not their to see Him rise to glory
He is our sovereign LORD who is our salvation because we believe by faith . In God is my salvation and my glory; The rock of my strength, And my refuge, is in God. Trust in Him at all times, you people; Pour out your heart before Him; God is a refuge for us. (Ps 62:7-8)
Is He your refuge?
Is He your rock that cannot be moved?
Is He your everyday strength?
Do you abide in His righteousness?
If so pour your heart out to Him right not by faith and believe the sovereign LORD of all creation by faith.
