BE STRONG IN THE LORD

Image
Eph 6:10-20 What kind of person are you, when some says “What are your strengths?” What is the first thing you think of, when asked that question? Maybe you are emotionally strong. Maybe you can handle a lot of pressure, work for long hours, day after day after day. Maybe you are the one who is the emotional anchor in your family and everyone leans on you for support. There are many kinds of strength. But the most important one is the strength you need in the Lord. True Christian strength is not of the body. True Christian strength is of the spirit, measured in faithfulness, trust, and perseverance.  By Grace we live by Faith. If we don't listen and truly trust what the Word of God tells us, then we will never function properly in this life. The outcome of that truth is that our own strength in reality is weak and feeble. God requires every Christian to put on His strength, so that we can stand in a world full of hatred and violence towards Christianity. He requi...

DON’T EXPECT ANYTHING DIFFERENT

Image
John 15:18-25 The late great Leonard Ravenhill said “Why Do we expect to be better treated in this world than Jesus was.”  What did the Romans & Jews do to Jesus?  A better question might be asked this morning! What did we do to Jesus?  According to the Bible! He was spit and slapped repeatedly in the face. He was blindfolded and was repeatedly punched by multiple people. His clothing was torn and removed from His body and it was sold amongst themselves. He was made to stand there almost naked in front of a captive crowd of on-lookers. His back and front was brutally beaten and whipped to the point of death due to shock of pain and agony. He was ridiculed dressed like a king as He carried His cross up to Calvary, which is outside the camp. He’s hands and feet had long spikes put through his skin into the wood to hold His body in a position that would cause His lungs to fill up with fluid as He hangs there and dies a slow sinner’s death on a cross...

HE CALLS ME FRIEND

Image
John 15:12-16 Let me begin by saying "that there is not one person in this sanctuary that doesn’t need, care or desire for a companion or friend to turn to."  Every person, every loving Christian would give anything for one good friendship.  I can remember growing up and my best friend who I considered being more like a brother than a friend, but he was a friend none the less.  We were inseparable and sometimes that wasn't so good…maybe we should have been apart, so that we wouldn't get into trouble like we use to.  But the one thing I knew about our friendship is that I knew he would always be there for me no matter what or where I ended up.  That’s a true friend! See a friend is someone you can…… Always count on and call upon at any time to help you through whatever is going on in your life. Trust with your deepest thoughts or secrets.  Won’t stab you in the back or hurt you intentionally.  Respect, because t...

I CAN DO NOTHING

Image
John 15: 1-8 I was thinking about the latest caption on our MBC sign, especially on the side that faces north which says “you may have religion, but do you have Jesus”  That is an amazing question to ask those who pass by and read! Why? It’s one of those statements that really make you think or at least it should when it comes to your eternal soul. See when I see a statement like this it makes me think if Jesus was walking with His disciples in 2014 and they came across our church sign, would He expound a truth to that caption with His disciples? Would this call for yet another one of Jesus’ spiritual moments? The reason I say that is throughout the ministry of Jesus, He always had a way of using what was before Him to illustrate a truth to His disciples. When the Priests performed their rituals during the Feast of Tabernacle by pouring out water and then Jesus cried out “If any man thirst, let him come to Me and drink”  When they lite the to...
