SO FOCUSED ON GOSPEL LIVING

Image
1 Thess 4:11-12 What does it mean to be so focused on gospel living?  Everything you do should be done out of complete dependence on the blood-bought grace and promises found in the death and resurrection of Christ. Everything you do should be done with a view of displaying the all-satisfying grace of God in the gospel. Everything you do should show the glory of God, by treasuring above all things the One through whom grace comes. Our Lord Jesus Christ! He is our plumb line, the one who stands at the finish line when we pass from this life into the next. He is the reason we exist and live and find true joy in the midst of broken and fallen world.  As Paul wrote “He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins. He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation . For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, vi...

WHY NOT ME LORD?

1 Thess 3:1-10 Have you ever pondered the question! Why me? Have you ever asked yourself! Why me LORD?  Why do You allow so much pain and suffering to happen to your children around the world? Why do You allow me to go through fruitlessness from time to time? Why do You put me through such pain and anguish with the people whom I’m supposed to love and share the truth with? Why do You harden the hearts of so many people, especially those whom are the closet to me?  Isaiah penned this “….And He said, "Go, and say to this people: "'Keep on hearing, but do not understand; keep on seeing, but do not perceive.' Make the heart of this people dull , and their ears heavy , and blind their eyes ; lest they see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their hearts, and turn and be healed." Isa 6:8-10.  Why Lord! Why? To be honest, there is no easy answer to that question!  Except answering it this way! Why not me ? Paul kne...

A HEALTHY CHURCH STILL CONTINUED

What does it mean to anticipate something?  If you’re having a hard time answering that question; rewind back to Christmas Eve and your children….and fast forward to Christmas morning!  Better Yet! Look back to the time when you and your lovely spouse were going to get married in the coming months.  All the planning and organizing and sending and seeing who was going to come to your special day.  Then the day arrives! Think back to your bride and her reaction when that day finally came. Filled with excitement, nervousness and joy because the day she has been anticipating, is finally here .  What does it mean to wait? Because I hate to wait and that’s my sin! It means to anticipate with patience, a readiness and understanding that the day is getting closer and I need to be alert and ready when that day in the future comes. The same truth can be said about our salvation! We anticipate our fallen bodies to be finally redeemed from this earth. ...

A CALL TO DISCERNMENT

1 Kings 3:6-13 An elderly woman stood on a very busy street corner in rush hour traffic. She was fearful, confused, and therefore hesitant to cross by herself. Finally, a man came up to her and asked if he could cross the street with her. Grateful and very relieved, she took his arm and stepped into the busy intersection. As they proceeded, she grew progressively alarmed as he zigzagged randomly across the street, to the blare of horns and screech of locked brakes. Finally, after reaching their destination, she turned to the gentleman and complained, "You almost got us killed! You walk like you're blind." "I am," he replied. "That's why I asked if I could cross with you."  That dear lady did not make the best choice.  The man who she thought was a steady arm and sufficient guide, was actually desperate for guidance himself. He didn't have a clue!  Remember what Jesus said when it came to following after one another Jesus.  When th...
