The Word of God

The complete Word of God is the authority for the Christian life.......Here are 10 reasons why the Word of God  (His 66 books ) is vital for the Christian. I love what A.W Tozer once said "The Word of God well understood and religiously obeyed is the shortest route to spiritual perfection. And we must not select a few favorite passages to the exclusion of others. Nothing less than a whole Bible can make a whole Christian."  William Tyndale said "I will cause a boy who drives a plow to know more of the scriptures than the pope." This book is for all generations, all cultures and ethnic backgrounds. This book is for our understanding; this book displays to us the glories of His majesty....Read this Book! Love this Book! But better yet! Love the writer of this book....The Truine God! Father, Son and Holy Spirit! To God be the glory for giving us their love letter to humanity......showing us a way home through His begotten Son, Jesus (our redeeming grace) Christ my Lord.

1. They contain the promises of the Gospel

But the Scripture has confined all under sin, that the promise by faith in Jesus Christ might be given to those who believe. (Gal 3:22)

2. They testify of Christ

For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures, (1 Cor 15:3-4)

3. They are intended for the use of all men and women

but now made manifest, and by the prophetic Scriptures made known to all nations, according to the commandment of the everlasting God, for obedience to the faith (Rom 16:26)

4. They are profitable for doctrine and practice

All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work. (2 Tim 3:16-17)

5. They are written for our instruction

For whatever things were written before were written for our learning, that we through the patience and comfort of the Scriptures might have hope. (Rom 15:4)

6. They convert the soul

The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul; The testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple; (Ps 19:7)

7. They should be used to test everything

These were more fair-minded than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness, and searched the Scriptures daily to find out whether these things were so. (Acts 17:11)

8. They should be a desire to hear

Now all the people gathered together as one man in the open square that was in front of the Water Gate; and they told Ezra the scribe to bring the Book of the Law of Moses, which the LORD had commanded Israel. (Neh 8:1)

9. They are full of truths

For the commandment is a lamp, And the law a light; Reproofs of instruction are the way of life, (Prov 6:23)

10. They are a blessing to those who hear and obey

But He said, "More than that, blessed are those who hear the word of God and keep it!" (Luke 11:28)

Which Way Do You Turn?

“Praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints, and also for me, that words may be given to me in opening my mouth boldly to proclaim the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains, that I may declare it boldly, as I ought to speak.” Eph 6:18-20

In our daily walk with the Lord we come across many stumbling blocks that keep us from growing in our spiritual maturity (e.g. Friends, television, work, finances, marital problems, facebook) Just to name a few. I ask the daunting question why? The answer! As Christians today, we normally do not walk with the Spirit. I don’t know about you! But I personally find it difficult at times to have a spirit- filled life when I allow all the temptations of Satan  and this world to distort my walk with the Lord. When I allow things (or stuff) to distract me from the most important thing in my life, a growing in righteousness; a walk of holiness; my personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Where can we find help? Where do we turn to? Let me ask you this. Do you ever ask someone to pray for you in this area difficulty? So that you can have victory over it……..If not! Why?Are you too prideful to seek the help of others? Because you might think they will see your weaknesses. We serve an almighty sovereign God who cares for His children and what’s even better! He gave us brothers and sisters in Christ, to help one another as we wait for His glorious return. The Apostle Paul was a gifted, courageous, and morally upright man of God, but he too relied on and freely requested personal prayer. Paul himself was in a similar situation when he asked fellow believers to pray for his victory in spiritual warfare that this ministry provoked from Satan. Paul being humble servant he was confronted the enemy face to face and knew he was not able to win his own resources. We can learn a great deal from Paul about asking people to pray when we are at battle. Remember Satan is roaming around to see whom he can devour (1 Pet 5:8; Eph 2:2). The power of prayer is a way for us to get through each day because we greatly need God’s help and help of our fellow brothers and sisters in Christ. Paul knew this! He knew the power and blessing he had were not of own doing but the power of prayer. We sometimes need to remind ourselves that it’s not the self- righteous but the humble heart that we need to bring to our prayer life. If we can’t be encouraged by the request for prayer from a man who was in a Roman prison cell being persecuted for preaching the gospel, then there is something wrong in our Christian walk! Praying for others with sincerity and perseverance is, in God’s immeasurable grace, a great blessing and strength to our own souls. It’s so important o ask people to pray for your spiritual needs because we are only weak sheep who are in a battle with the Prince of the air (Eph 6:12; 2 Cor 10:3). Because of Christ’s dying on the cross for my sins and the sins of the whole world, we can look to Him for answers of sovereign protection and supervision for our lives (Luke 12:30-31; Ps 18:2; Isa 25:4). I thank God every day for men who we can read about and know that we too can ask people to pray for us when we are in spiritual battle. When I am weak in my battles I know He is there to see me through. Samuel Chadwick once said “There is no power like that of prevailing prayer - of Abraham pleading for Sodom, Jacob wrestling in the stillness of the night, Moses standing in the breach, Hannah intoxicated with sorrow, David heart-broken with remorse and grief, Jesus in sweat and blood. Add to this list from the records of the church your personal observation and experience, and always there is cost of passion unto blood. Such prayer prevails. It turns ordinary mortals into men of power. It brings power. It brings fire. It brings rain. It brings life. It brings God.” Find the victory today through prayer! To Him be the glory for giving us the privilege of prayer and the prayers of the saints…..

Think It Over

Here are several very personal questions to help you know how severe we need to be with ourselves in order to "abstain from wickedness." Answer each one honestly.

• Are you regularly with a person of the opposite sex in inappropriate situations?

• Are you completely above reproach in all your financial dealings, including your taxes?

• Do you expose yourself to explicit sexual material?

• If you have a family, do you invest sufficient time with them?

• Do you tell the truth? How often do you lie (don't forget to count the little white ones)?

• How quickly do you say "I am wrong; I am genuinely sorry" when you have said or done something that hurts another?

• Do you hold grudges?

• Are you knowingly compromising in some area of your life, refusing to acknowledge the consequences that you will surely have to face?

• Have you formed a habit that is detrimental to your health or your job or your walk with Christ?

• Are you proud, selfish, arrogant?

• Have you taken credit for something that someone else did and should have been rewarded for?

• Do you return things you borrow?

• Have you failed to confess something to someone who should know of your wrongdoing?

• Are you abusing your mate or your children---physically or emotionally?

• Do you allow abuse to happen without seeking help?

• Do you regularly spend time in prayer and in the Scriptures?

Men of God

I love my church. I'm so blessed to be here in Moosehorn Manitoba. Lord, I'm so thankful for godly men who are faithful to You and our local church. We serve an amazing God who gives us each and every day to glorify His holy name on the earth! The Moosehorn Baptist Church  family desires to glorify God in a way the consumes all our attention to Him and to only Him! As John Piper says "God is most glorified in us when we are most satisfied in Him" this is our goal and theme for 2010. We had our first MENS BREAKFAST today and it was a great day of fellowship, food and testimony.  To God be the glory for bringing us men together for His glory........This is what the church needs! Men who love the Lord. Thank you Lord for godly men.  As Alan Redpath said "We need, men so possessed by the Spirit of God that God can think His thoughts through our minds, that He can plan His will through our actions, that He can direct His strategy of world evangelization through His Church."  We serve an amazing God who called us out of darkness into His glorious light through His Son......Again thank you Lord for saving us and giving us this day to bring You glory....

Traveling On My Knees

Last night I took a journey

to a land across the seas.
I didn't go by ship or plane,

I traveled on my knees.
I saw so many people there in bondage to their sin,
And Jesus told me I should go,

that there were souls to win.
But I said "Jesus,

I can't go to lands across the seas."
He answered quickly,

"Yes, you can by traveling on your knees."
He said, "You pray,

I'll meet the need.

You call, and I will hear.
It's up to you to be concerned for lost souls far and near."
And so I did; knelt in prayer,

gave up some hours of ease,
And with the Savior by my side,
I traveled on my knees.

As I prayed on, I saw souls saved
And twisted persons healed,

I saw God's workers strength renewed
While laboring in the field.

I said, "Yes Lord, I'll take the job.
Your heart I want to please.

I'll heed Your call and swiftly go
By traveling on my knees."

Don't Waste Your Life....Lecrae

This is a powerful video about a life who desires the things of this world, and will do anything to get them! We always tend to think humanly speaking...... that the riches of the world will completely satisfy our needs and that STUFF or wealth will complete us,.... That's a lie!....The end result could lead to jail, destruction and forever separated from the One whom you were created for...........Deny self and humble yourself to the Cross of Christ.........All I (you) need is Christ Jesus....We need to hold Jesus as extremely valuable and worthy to be praised and honored, for what He has done on the cross of Calvary some 2000 years ago..........The greatest and most valuable gift of all......He gave Himself for you and me.........The Gospel is and should be, our greatest reward and riches......To Him be the glory for He saves to the uttermost!

We Must Endure

Do you realize that it’s a blessing to endure? James said “Indeed we count them (Christians) blessed who endure. You have heard of the perseverance of Job and seen the end intended by the Lordthat the Lord is very compassionate and merciful.” James 5:1...........This is the part we forget sometimes…….the Lord is very compassionate and merciful……to those who endure, for those who wait patiently.........We serve an amazing God who will always see us through each step of the way…. ....But Satan wants you to be pre-occupied and thinking that God has left you alone…..Whether it be: The Internet, with TV .....With Work........... With Entertainment.......... With Community Events..............With your Complaining and Murmuring......With Problems in your Marriage or Family

Psalmist wrote “through he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down; For the LORD upholds him with His hand” Ps 37:24....... He upholds us! With what? He's sovereign all powerful HAND....................SO we should never fear or feel alone....This is a truth that we need to hang on to so tightly and never let go! This was a church that endured and waited patiently.......Patience (means) …….cheerful (or hopeful) endurance, constancy: - enduring, patience, patient continuance (waiting)............. What are we to be so cheerful, constant, and patiently waiting for?...........

Why are we to endure? Answer: "Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father's house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also. John 14:1-3.....

Luke wrote in Acts 1: 10-11 And while they looked steadfastly toward heaven as He went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel, who also said, "Men of Galilee, why do you stand gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will so come in like manner as you saw Him go into heaven."

Can I ask you a personal question?

· Are you waiting patiently?

· Are you enduring as we wait for the Lord Jesus Christ?

The world today throws so much at us that we sometimes tend to doubt what we believe to be true especially in this post-moderen world……………Why? Because the Lord hasn’t come back yet! Jesus said we don’t know the day or the hour He is to return…..All He asks of us is that we endure and wait patiently!

1. Endurance leads to glory to God in our suffering…………….. Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; and perseverance, character; and character, hope. Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us. Rom 5:1-5...... The people of God rejoice not only in our future glory but also in our present trials…………Not because trials are pleasant and we go out looking for them, but because they produce endurance........The ability to remain under tremendous weight and pressure without falling away!

2. Endurance is the character of the Saints………………… But the path of the just is like the shining sun, That shines ever brighter unto the perfect day.” Prov 4:18.....Path of the righteous is the way of wisdom…..walking in that wisdom of God......The path of the believer is one of increasing light……………..just as the sun begins to rise and get brighter and brighter……………to endure is a character of a Christian…. It’s an ever increasing brightness, walk, it’s a path that grows brighter with every day………………it continues to the end…………….!

3. Endurance leads to a greater increase of Knowledge……………….Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, "If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." John 8:31-32.....The word “abide” literally means to “habitually” constantly, routinely, normally, consistently abide in Jesus Word.......We are to hold fast, obey and practice what the Word of God says continually....... Persevering, enduring to the obedience of the Word of God which is hard work! Which requires a us to continue in it

4. Endurance leads to assurance in this hope we have in Christ………… But, beloved, we are confident of better things concerning you, yes, things that accompany salvation, though we speak in this manner. For God is not unjust to forget your work and labour of love which you have shown toward His name, in that you have ministered to the saints, and do minister. And we desire that each one of you show the same diligence (thoroughness, carefulness, attention)…….to the full assurance of hope until the end (conclusion, finish, closing stages) that you do not become sluggish (means dull, gray), but imitate those who through faith and patience inherit the promises. Heb 6:9-12......... To the end……………….means we must have enduring faith to the end! .......Which is? An eternity with Jesus Christ......... The Author and Finisher of our salvation and faith! Paul wrote "He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ” Phil 1:6..........We have an enduring Hope.......The same living enduring hope that the believers in Thessalonica had

5. Endurance leads to blessing …………………I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved. 2 Tim 4:7-8..........What are we to endure for? This hope that Paul so clear speaks about!...........The day that we get to be in His presence....a place that He has been and still is preparing today for: His bride.....The prophet.......The saints of old...........The apostles..........The born again Christian’s...........You and me!

In order to endure any race or situation in life that is before us…………. it must come from a working faith…………….labour of love and…………………………………… patience that endures to the end!
