Something to think about

After church this morning I began to think about what Christmas really means to me. Its not about how busy malls get, grocery stores, streets and highways, the stress of family, and bitterness because you didn't get that parking spot at the store, its not even about giving and receiving gifts. Its all about Him and His wonderful story of redemption. Born in a filthy barn, born into poverty, wrapped in burial clothes, mocked and put on a tree and shed His blood for my sin your sin. I may sound naive but shouldn't this make us sing for joy? Shouldn't this make us praise Him every minute of every day? Shouldn't His desires be our desires? He came and died so that I could live again. We should screaming from the tops of our lungs in praise and thanksgiving.
Here are 10 things I'm truly thankful for this Christmas Season its not an exhausted list, its my list.
1. I'm thankful for the Lord of all creation (Psalms 145)
2. I'm thankful for Lord Jesus Christ (Isaiah 9:6; Matt 1:21)
3. I'm thankful for the gift of salvation (Eph 2:4-10)
4. I'm thankful for the precious word of God (Psalms 119)
5. I'm thankful for a godly Christian wife (Proverbs 31:10-31)
6. I'm thankful for 3 healthy children (Psalms 127:3)
7. I'm thankful for godly friends like Trevor Peck, and John Mank (Phil 3:19-25)
8. I'm thankful for food in the cupboards and the comforts of a warm home (Luke 11:29-30)
9. I'm thankful for godly (men) church leaders (1 Peter 5:1-4)
10. I'm thankful that I Mike Andrews, can used by God, for the glory of God a sinner saved by grace (Acts 20:24)

What are you thankful for this Christmas season? God bless and Merry Christmas

The Purpose for Christmas

What is the Perfect Gift for this Christmas Season? The Answer is simple the Lord Jesus Christ. Think about why we celebrate Christmas. Jesus said (John 3:16-18) For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. "He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. Jesus also said (John 14:6) “... I'AM the way the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” His love for mankind is so great, He said (John 15:13) Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one's life for his friends. When you celebrate Christmas in a couple of weeks understand one thing. The person JESUS CHRIST came in the fullness of time to lay down His life for sinful man! You, Me the Whole World this is what He was born to do!
His little body would one day, be mocked and beaten
His precious little head would one day, wear a crown of thorns upon it
His little soft hands would one day, be pierced for our transgression
His little feet unable to walk would one day, be pierced for our iniquity
His little side would one day, be opened to cleans us from all our unrighteousness
I like what Oswald Chambers said "Jesus Christ became Incarnate for one purpose, to make a way back to God that man might stand before Him as He was created to do, the friend and lover of God Himself".
He came so that we can have eternal life. Paul wrote (Gal 4:4-6) But when the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, that we might receive the adoption as sons. And because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying out, "Abba, Father!" John MacArthur says “If we could condense all the truths of Christmas into only three words, these would be the words: "God with us."
So my question for us this Christmas:
Is He your gift this Christmas Season? Your greatest treasure above all things.
Is He the reason you celebrate this time of year? Forgiven for your sins by His shedding blood.
He loves you and He desires that all (salvation is for the worst of sinners to the kindest of sinners) come to Him in repentance and to follow Him by faith as LORD. agian listen to Paul But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. (Rom 5:8). This is the reason He came in the first place to die for our sins so that we could be reconciled to the Father through His Son Jesus Christ. So whats more important to you this Christmas Season? Is it presents, turkey dinner, friends, family, staff parties? These are all wonderful things but we must not be clouded by those things this Christmas season, because this is how the world views Christmas. Oh excuse me "the holiday season". If you love the things that the world displays as "Happy Holidays" then you are blinded to the true meaning of Christmas, which is SALVATION through His Son Jesus Christ. Listen to what Paul said “Behold,(pay attention) now (not tomorrow or next week) is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation”. Today is the day, this very minute, this very second Christ Jesus is waits for you to come to Him in repentance (a turning away from) and to follow Him only by faith.
This Child was God (John 5:18; Phil 2:611)
This Child was born of a virgin (Matt 1:26-35)
This Child came to die (Matt 27:50)
This Child conquered the grave (Matt 28:5-8)
This Child is the only way to Heaven (1 Peter 1:3-5; John 14:6)
This Child is seated at the right hand of the Father (Heb 1:3-4)
This is what Christmas is all about. This is what the Perfect Gift is this Christmas season! It is so perfect Jesus said “Its Finished” So whats under your tree this Christmas?

The Glory of the Cross

The Reason for Christmas is WHAT?

Rick Warren a man who claims to be a pastor. Rick Warren a man who claims to be a pastor with the opportunity to proclaim the wonderful gospel of our Lord and Savior. I don't want to wreck it for you, but he fails once again to proclaim the Biblical Jesus. I'm starting to think like my pastor friend Trevor Peck, that Rick Warren doesn't really know what the gospel is.
Have I said that he claims to be a pastor! Please pray for Rick because the real reason for Christimas is found in Isaiah 53. He came to die because somebody had to pay our penalty. Its called SIN.
He is not our buddy
He is not our cosmic bunny
He is not a genie in a bottle
He is not a get out of jail free card
He is not to be returned in 60 days day
He did not come so I could open Him up on Christmas morning
He is not to be sold back because you don't like Him as a gift
He came to please and to do His Fathers will, and to bring Him GLORY

And most of all He came to bare the wrath of the Father for our sin. why? because He loves those whom He created in His image. You and Me

Praise Him this Christmas not as Rick says "try Him out for 60 days". But as Christians who are thankful and grateful for His sovereign sacrifice, the gift of eternal value.

Jesus paid a price that He did not owe, for a debt that we could never pay back. I am sinners saved by grace, and only grace. Thats what the purpose of Christmas means pastor Rick Warren.

If you don't agree with me look for yourself: Go to my friends blog and watch the gospel NOT being proclaimed by pastor Rick Warren http://loveinthetruth.blogspot.com/

Bible versus Cell Phones

A friend of mine gave this to me one day at work. I thought I would share it with you, because I love cell phones. NOT!.. This unknown writer asks a series of question about what would happen if we treated our Bibles like we treat our cell phones?

1. What if we carried it around in our purses or pockets?
2. What if we flipped through it several times a day?
3. What if we used it to receive messages from the text?
4. What if we treated it like we couldn't live without it?
5. What if we gave it to others as a gift?
6. What if we used it when we travelled?
7. What if we used it in case of emergency?

He finishes it off by saying "unlike our cell phones, we don;t have to worry about our Bibles being disconnected because Jesus has already paid the bill, and there is no dropped calls."

If we examined our cell phone use to those questions by that unknown writer. We would probably feel shameful to our wasted time. We as Christians need to set our priorities and what do we hold as extremely valuable. A cell phone is helpful in our day to day life, but the Bible is much more valuable, because it teaches us holiness, righteousness, forgiveness, it satisfies our souls with grace and mercy. Before you text someone for the hundredth time today, put it down its not going anywhere trust me, and read a text from our holy God, because its to you and me.
So my question to you is: Who is winning in your life????
